Ubisoft announces fifth year of support for For Honor and launches crossover with Shovel Knight
Ubisoft has unveiled a trailer for the fifth year of support for the medieval action game For Honor — Year of the Covenants. It kicks off on March 11 across all platforms and continues the storyline of Year 4.
The trailer was shown on a recent Twitch stream. In the video, the creators talked about how the game developed throughout all four years of its existence, and listed the main upcoming innovations. Year 5 will include four seasons, each with a Battle Pass. Updates will bring two new heroes, events, balance fixes, the Dominion Series tournament, a test area and cosmetic items. The first character will appear in the second season, and the second in the fourth. More details to be revealed in the coming weeks.
At the same time, a crossover with the popular Shovel Knight series of platformers from the Yacht Club Games studio was launched. Until March 4th, users can purchase three pieces of armor, helmet parts, animations, symbols, and the Shovel Drop emote. An emote is available for 10 thousand steel (virtual currency), and the cost of skins is 15-20 thousand units.
Shovel Knight has appeared in many games. Previously, the hero was added to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Crypt of the NecroDancer, Enter the Gungeon and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
For Honor’s fourth season final season, Mayhem, begins December 10, 2021. In addition to new content (hero — Gryphon, weapons and armor), he added 60fps support on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. At the moment, there are 28 heroes of four classes available in the game: Vanguards, Assassins, Heavies and Hybrids.
For Honor was released in February 20021 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version is currently available on Steam, Uplay and the Epic Games Store. On consoles of this generation, the action is available with improvements — support for 4K (on Xbox Series S — 1080p), better reflections on the water, shadows and texture filtering, as well as increased draw distance. In August 2021, developers reported 25 million game users across all platforms. For the past six months, the number of simultaneous players on Steam has remained at the same level — about 5 thousand.
Ubisoft released a free update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla this week with river raids and new skills, and last week announced that Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will receive new content this year.
